The Dance

The Dance (2020), is a slow-moving conceptual video produced by newly launched Sydney creative studio, SEARCH PARTY (@studiosearchparty).

“2020 has been a symbolic low for us all, but we have to weather the storm the best way we know how,” says Terzini. “For Icebergs, that’s almost always with collaboration, art and music.”

Icebergs Dining Room and Bar reopened its doors after it was voluntarily closed on March 22 because of the COVID-19 restrictions placed on Sydney hospitality venues. The Dance was commissioned to mark the re-awakening of this revolutionary restaurant and its return to service on August 1.

“Even in these strange times, we always want to continue to inspire our employees, loyal customers and future diners,” says Terzini. “Not everyone is ready to sit inside a restaurant, so The Dance reminds us of the performance, energy and art that goes along with dining out, as well as the grit and grind that comes with working in hospitality.”

Using slow-motion, hyper-real editing techniques, soaring Opera music and ocean sound, The Dance turns stressful, stolen moments into subtle choreography and movement. Shot across six days leading up to the restaurant’s first service back, the film begins with sunrise on day one of bump-in and begins again with the very first drink poured, and dish plated.

This sentimental yet hopeful film marks the renewed spirit of restaurateur Maurice Terzini, his team, and their unwavering dedication to hospitality. It certainly doesn’t taste or sound like this at home.

Icebergs x Dreamcatchers Dreamtime Art Installation

L I G H T - The natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.

The concept behind the installation was to utilise the abundant natural light source and view the Icebergs Dining Room and Bar through a kaleidoscope of coloured filters to illuminate the space in a unique new light.

“I used metallic, transparent, and opaque materials throughout the venue, to create different effects with the light coming through. With so much going on in the world over the last year, I thought it would be great to step in to 2018 in a new and positive light.” George Barnes
