The Bar at Icebergs, Bondi

There’s many ways to  do the Icebergs Bar. Some arrive salt-haired from a swim for an Icebergs Spritz and a dozen Sydney rock oysters. Others settle in after work with a Negroni as the evening light shifts over Bondi Beach. However you come to it, it’s one of the few Bondi Beach bars set right above the water.

The cocktail list moves with the seasons, from the Coastline Martini to the signature Americano No 4, a Campari and Chinotto build finished with Icebergs Lager from the tap, alongside a selection of wines by the glass and Champagne. The kitchen holds the same standards as the adjacent Dining Room in a more relaxed setting,  delivering Spaghetti alle Vongole, the iconic Iceburger, Crudo, and Caviar when the occasion calls for it.

Add a soundtrack shaped by more than two decades of Icebergs collaborations, and you have the Bondi bar that Bartender Magazine named Restaurant Bar of the Year in 2024. Golden hour is the seat to chase, but locals know the balcony delivers at any time of day.

The Bar runs along the balcony at the southern end of Bondi Beach, looking north across the sand to the headland and the open Pacific, with the ocean pool of the swimming club directly below. Few Bondi Beach bars share the same outlook.

The eastern sky takes colour with the sun behind the beach during Golden Hour. Late afternoon into the evening is the busiest stretch, and balcony tables are sought after then, so arriving early is recommended.

Its position. The Bar sits on the balcony directly above the swimming club’s ocean pool, with uninterrupted views north along Bondi Beach. Inside, it is Italian in focus: aperitivo, a cocktail list of classics, and small plates for sharing. Among Bondi bars, few combine this setting with the view, and Iceberg’s polished service.
